Cabinet Measuring & Design Guide
Follow the steps to get easier trough this process.
Step 1: PLAN
Sketch your project space — your drawing can be simple, as long as it includes accurate measurements and all the elements outlined in this guide. With that information, we will be able to create a design for you.
Discuss your projects time frame with a sales agent, this will help the sales agent guide you to a product line that will meet your time requirements.
Outline your budget: A key factor in cabinet remodeling is price, KDS Cabinets offers a line of cabinetry for every budget. Establish a desired budget and let your sales agent know to enable them to provide the best options for you.
Identify a design style that you want to create. Are you looking for a modern and clean look or a more traditional and warmer feel? Defining a style will also aid your sales agent in selecting the right product for you.
Appliances play a key role in defining how your space will be designed. Having your fridge, stove, microwave/hood vent and any other built in appliances planned for in advance will save time and allow for a more accurate quote.
When planning your space be sure to include your rooms ceiling height, and if you want your upper cabinets to be run to the ceiling (with crown molding trim).
Note any windows, doors, electrical, or plumbing that can not be moved.
Step 2: DESIGN
Put all the following information on the grid sheet provided, using the example below.
1.
Measure the total length of all walls corner to corner. Indicate whether a wall is open ended or if there is an adjacent wall.

Note window and door locations with sizes
including trim or casing. If there is no casing,
please note it.
Measure from the nearest corner or edge
to the item and note the measurements.

Note passages such as hallways, stairs or doors and the direction they open.
4.
Enter appliance sizes in the chart on this page.

Place cabinets and appliances. Ensure to allow 36” of clearance in front of appliances.

When using blind corner cabinets they must be spaced from the wall. Base Blind Corners must be a minimum of 9” away from the corner and Wall Blind Corners must be a minimum of 1/2” away from the corner. A filler must be placed between the blind panel and adjacent cabinets; for Base Blind Cabinets the filler must be 3 1/2” wide and Wall Blind Cabinets require a 2” filler. This allows for the projection of handles, and other cabinet openings.
Step 3: ORDER
Select a cabinet door style.
Choose finish.
Check the cabinet catalogue with all options that we can build for your design.
Provide the drawing you have created by following this guide to your Co-op Cabinet Pro who will work with you and KDS Cabinets to create detailed drawings and bring your project to life!
When a design and price has been agreed upon your order is ready to be placed.
